CHICKEN
On the steps of a centuries old Buddhist Monastery
The game of 'Survivor' began it's latest installment
Soon, sixteen people will enter it's sacred sanctuary
Within ancient China, thirty nine days will be spent
From "ultra-modern Shanghai", to a far distant time
A new group of anxious survivors will be transported
They'll participate in a Chinese welcome most sublime
But not before a train and a truck have been boarded
Instruction awaited, once their journey had ended
Toting suitcases, they climbed a multitude of stairs
They reached holy ground, once all were ascended
Jeff welcome them to the land of the panda bears
Inside the 16th Century Temple, a ceremony awaited
The four hundred year old Monastery was beautiful
Though not for worship, the survivors congregated
In following the Monks lead, nearly all were dutiful
As he took it all in, Chicken felt like a wide-eyed boy
The serene welcome nearly brought Denise to tears
For her, the "emotional and spiritual" rite was a joy
Courtney, however, was more inclined toward jeers
Her hands were pressed together, as if in prayer
Yet from a skyward direction, her hands had sunk
Upon being corrected, she displayed a glaring stare
Later, Courtney said, "I'm not trying to be a Monk"
For Leslie, a level of discomfort was plain to see
The tears and all the squirming had left no doubt
A Commandment forbid the bending of her knee
After opting to skip the bowing, Leslie bowed out
The players exited, once the greeting was complete
Before Jeff, the eight men and eight women stood
Jeff questioned Leslie about her ceremonial retreat
Over her decision not to participate, she felt good
Jeff mentioned a "big theme" in Buddhist tradition
All "worldly possessions", said he, will be left behind
The game will start in their presently clad condition
This announcement put more than a few in a bind
"I'm not wearing a bra!", a stunned Jaime blurted
The impact of which, said Jeff, remained to be seen
To a nearby pile of buffs, their attention was diverted
The assigning of two new tribes would now convene
A name tag was tied to each buff of yellow and red
If their name tag adorned red, they must head right
Off to the left, those with yellow would likewise head
Soon, two tribes of eight were in Jeff Probst's sight
In buffs of yellow, the "Zhan Hu" tribe will compete
"Fighting Tiger", said Jeff, is the English translation
For the first time, eight new teammates would meet
As a tribe, they'll play for an undetermined duration
Zhan Hu is comprised of four women and four men
Among the men is Frosti, the youngest player to date
Dave, Jaime and Chicken will also be competing to win
Erik, the fourth man for Zhan Hu, hopes to steer his fate
Their remaining mates include Sherea and Peih-Gee
Wearing a Zhan Hu buff of yellow, Ashley will also play
Together, the tribe will need to see consistent victory
It is the only guarantee that in the game they'll stay
For Fei Long, four men and four women will unite
In buffs of red will compete Jean-Robert and Todd
Aaron, Denise and Courtney also stood to the right
They hope to go far upon the ancient Chinese sod
"Flying Dragon", is what translates for Fei Long
The final three in red are Leslie, Amanda and James
Amanda happily viewed James and Aaron as strong
As a "powerhouse", they'll protect Fei Long's flames
Jeff referred to a Chinese document, from ages before
Each tribe received a copy, both of which were scrolled
The name of the strategic writing was "The Art of War"
In playing the game, it contained sage advise to behold
Next, maps to their new tribal homes were assigned
Zhan Hu and Fei Long soon boarded their tribal crafts
Along the scenic lake's shores, a tribal sign they'll find
Red or yellow flags signify where to dock their rafts
Aboard Fei Long's boat, Aaron sized up his new tribe
That his teammates knew what to do, he thought not
As their reluctant "leader", himself he would describe
Fei Long landed, finding rice, an axe, and a cooking pot
Starting a fire was the tribe's first order of business
However, that plan was altered when it began to rain
The perkiness of her tribe, one member would dismiss
From commenting, Courtney apparently couldn't refrain
Certain inhabitants Courtney found to be irritating
And it was not any unwelcome, indigenous creatures
She felt "marooned" in a land with company most grating
Living with "flight attendants and Sunday school teachers"
Todd and Jean-Robert hiked off, to take a look around
Hoping to find that which would be to Fei Long's avail
A warrior statue with an attached basket was found
They deduced that it must be for upcoming treemail
Jean-Robert asked Todd what he did for a living
Todd said as a flight attendant he earned his pay
Jean-Robert disbelieved the reply Todd was giving
He told Todd he sensed he had a "devious" way
Todd asked Jean-Robert to keep his impression quiet
Though he neither confirmed nor denied it to be true
Todd was concerned that Fei Long just might buy it
Keeping an eye on Jean-Robert is what Todd will do
Meanwhile, Zhan Hu had docked at their tribal shore
The eight cheered upon finding the meager supplies
Sherea's footwear left her with two feet quite sore
Chicken proceeded to impart wisdom most wise
Seeing himself as an asset, for knowledge accumulated
Chicken regarded his experience to be a thing of value
When Chicken realized his opinions weren't appreciated
He opted to keep them from within earshot of Zhan Hu
As for the building of a shelter, the work was put on hold
It quickly became obvious this tribe was easy to amuse
For Peih-Gee, that half were dancing was doom foretold
Still, Sherea had some fun, despite her high-heeled shoes
Back at Fei Long, work on their shelter was steady
After many a "timber!", steady progress was made
Todd said all were helpful, eager, and at the ready
With their strength, they'll have it made in the shade
James was an especially useful member of the team
Leslie saw this "quiet" mate as amazing and strong
James told her his occupation left him socially green
He was uncertain just how to fit in with Fei Long
That James be himself was Leslie's immediate reply
Asking the others about their lives was a good start
On his strength, James remarked, he would also rely
Hoping challenge efforts will get them in the heart
The sun shone brightly on day two, at Zhan Hu
A night of heavy rain had disturbed their slumber
Any inclinations toward merriment were through
Zhan Hu commenced with the chopping of lumber
Ashley, however, was unable to lend a helping hand
She had become ill, and was scrunched up in a ball
Her agony was such that she could not even stand
Dave assured her this didn't mean she'd take a fall
On day three, at Fei Long, treemail was collected
Jean-Robert and Todd undertook the retrieval
To all, Todd relayed what should be expected
Immunity will spare them any tribal upheaval
Amanda suggested they study "The Art of War"
As Fei Long listened, Aaron began to softly read
A victorious force needs an able leader at it's core
Todd said it looked like Aaron was who they need
Aaron agreed, though it was more like submission
That they maintain a democracy, he would stress
Todd was happy to have elevated Aaron's position
The opportunity for a target on him was now less
Over at camp Zhan Hu, they too had a poem to relay
The tribe asked Ashley if she was feeling up to par
Saying she'd recovered, Ashley was ready to play
As was Frosti, an expert in the sport of Parkour
Jeff called in the tribes, for Immunity was on the line
Both Chicken and Jean Robert were asked about camp
Chicken said it was pretty much what he had in mind
Jean Robert said he hadn't slept, from being so damp
The challenge details were relayed to ears a bit wary
Each tribe member will be tied to a ceremonial mascot
The tribal figurehead, and attached body, they'll carry
Jeff warned it would be awkward and will weigh a lot
A series of obstacles they'll need to maneuver through
At the end of which, they'll stand before a locked gate
One tribe mate will have walls to scale, counting two
As behind the locked fence, seven comrades await
A drawbridge must be lowered, once a wall is scaled
When two have been lowered, off to a key they'll run
They'll return to their tribe, once they have prevailed
At which time they will use the key to free everyone
With the giant mascot overhead, they'll tackle a swamp
To a finish platform at the swamp's end, they'll need race
They'll climb atop the platform, after their muddy romp
Lowering each section of the mascot into it's proper place
The first tribe to finish is awarded the coveted symbol
Jeff unveiled a Chinese warrior, bending at one knee
Winning the challenge will require they be nimble
Jeff called to a start the first battle for Immunity
The head of Fei Long's mascot was carried by James
With a giant dragon, and two walls, he must contend
Frosti led a giant tiger for Zhan Hu, the color of flames
Through a variety of obstacles, the mascots would bend
Upon reaching the locked gate, they were neck and neck
Though from the mascot, James had trouble unclipping
Frosti scaled a first wall, but a detail he failed to recollect
The slight lead Frosti managed to gain was now slipping
Zhan Hu's first drawbridge he had neglected to lower
This allowed Fei Long's James to spring into the lead
Though Frosti proved himself to be faster than slower
He quickly narrowed his opponents chance to succeed
With all drawbridges lowered, and a key in each hand
James and Frosti headed back to their waiting crew
Both men had their keys well within their command
Soon, into the swamp went Fei Long and Zhan Hu
"We're neck and neck...again!", Jeff would proclaim
As through the muddy swamp, the two tribes scurried
Fei Long reached the platform, and Zhan Hu did the same
To distinctly different posts, sixteen survivors then hurried
Zhan Hu was getting nowhere with the mascot's placing
Yet Fei Long, with good teamwork, was getting it done
Ultimately, Tribal Council is what Zhan Hu was facing
Once Jeff announced that tribe Fei Long had won
To the happy tribe, the Immunity idol was awarded
Jeff handed over to James the symbol of protection
Additionally, to the winning team, flint was afforded
Whereas Zhan Hu was scheduled for a tribal ejection
After returning to camp, Zhan Hu lamented the day
Peih-Gee attempted to hold back frustrated tears
They needed to finish the shelter, Dave would say
His impassioned plea helped Peih-Gee switch gears
She immediately took charge of their tribal dwelling
Peih-Gee asked Chicken if he'd an opinion to share
Chicken may have, but he wasn't too keen on telling
Peih-Gee met his unhelpful input with a blank stare
"Bossy" was how Ashley described Peih-Gee's lead
She spoke with Erik about the vote which lie ahead
Within the tribe, Ashley hoped to be in good steed
Despite having spent an unfortunate day in bed
Chicken told Frosti he'd be writing Ashley's name
There was nothing she'd done since they'd landed
Frosti told Chicken Ashley's illness was to blame
Chicken said those were the cards she was handed
Sherea informed Jaime her vote was for one of two
Either Peih-Gee or Chicken would be taking that walk
Additionally, Ashley was a supposed target at Zhan Hu
Dave informed Chicken it was to be her, in a private talk
To Tribal Council they hiked, with the setting of the sun
Jeff greeted them, directing each to a torch with their name
Once the torches were ablaze, the questioning had begun
Jeff asked Peih-Gee about the first few days of the game
Was it more than she bargained for, Jeff would wonder
Peih-Gee assumed it was going to be a "piece of cake"
But slow progress on the shelter had run them asunder
Peih-Gee was uncertain how much more they could take
Jeff saw Chicken hold up two fingers, as she was speaking
Chicken replied what took two days should have taken one
Therefore, Jeff asked if a leadership role he'd been seeking
Chicken said no, adding they would need to get that done
Jeff asked the Zhan Hu tribe if there were any volunteers
Both Dave and Peih-Gee raised their hands for all to see
Dave said he was willing to step up and guide his peers
That someone had to do it was the plea from Peih-Gee
Jeff asked what needed to be done to better the tribe
Dave, Chicken, and Erik said they'd need to trim the fat
Ashley was suddenly overcome with an alarming vibe
Jeff asked her a question directly relating to just that
"Do you think you're fitting in?", Jeff would inquire
Ashley said that had been her previously held belief
But her lack of productivity now jeopardized her fire
Ashley hoped her illness wouldn't be a source of grief
Jeff asked Chicken, within the tribe, how he fit
Chicken informed Jeff that he did not fit in at all
But with experience, before them he would sit
Jeff said it was now time for one to take the fall
Ashley's hopes to stay were not nearly as aloft
She had not anticipated the plot would thicken
But she was not fated to be the first voted off
The torch that Jeff snuffed belonged to Chicken
